Five Faves • ed.6 [Local Love]

This is the age of the Internet, but how great is it to not only shop local, but support small business owners? Five Faves this week highlights stuff I love from stores I love (& people I love).

Kitchen Door Meal Delivery // Greater Seattle/Eastside
Have you ever wanted restaurant quality food...not takeout, but fresh, in your home? That's Susie's company, The Kitchen Door. From personal chef services as little as 1x/week to locally sourced (when possible) meals delivered right to your door.

Once upon a time, Susie & I shared a house at WSU. Then again in Greenlake when she was a teacher, then a flight attendant. Eventually she followed her nose to culinary school to start her own personal chef & meal delivery service. Her enthusiasm in the kitchen is eveident, and let me tell you, her chicken fajitas are amazing!

Champion Foods // Issaquah
This is the epitome of a mom&pop shop, I frequent often.
:: Why I love and you should too ::
Besides the amazing prices on dry goods, GF stuff, and natural staples, the owners, Jim & Kay are always there. They let you sample anything, adore your kids, and always take your groceries to the car. I love this place! Like them on FB for updates on new products, which rotate faster than you can blink. And yes, full size bags of chips are almost always 3/$1.

Moorea Seal // Phinney Ridge

It's super fun to admire someone online for a long time, then meet in real life and find out they're not only cool, but local too? Once upon a time, back when Pinterest was new, I was re-pinning Moorea Seal on the regular. Great eye for design, decor, jewelry, fashion, you name it. But I never knew she was from Seattle until last month.
:: Why I love and you should too ::
She's a girl who lives her passion and not only has an interesting personal blog and amazing jewelry line, but a new online shop curated to perfection, highlighting personally selected handmade artists from the U.S. Her company seeks to "do good beyond the material, creating a community that empowers and supports others". With 7% of all proceeds benefitting five non profits, there's no excuse not to peruse her Seattle {online} small business.

La Belle Jardin // Queen Anne
Flowers :: Weddings, Corporate, Gifts, Classes
:: Why I love and you should too ::
Know those people who couldn't look un-chic if they tried? That's Lisa, my friend for 20 years. Her taste level is waaaaaay up there, which is necessary when you're ordering flowers and others are in creative control. Her passion for b
lossoms prompted her to start her own floral company out of her basement (while still holding down a full time fashion merchandising career). She does amazing work and never fails to impress. Like her on FB for colorful beauty in your feed.

Sur de Soi // Issaquah
aesthetician, mom, overall awesome lady
:: Why I love and you should too ::
Sur de soi is french for "sure of oneself". And who wouldn't be if your skin looked 10 years younger than your calendar age? (Like Suzanne's). Her aesthetics studio is a warm & inviting spot for facials, waxing, chemical peels, lash & brow tinting, eyelash extensions, & makeup services.  It is her goal to help women (& men) strive to help themselves realize their unmistakeable beauty inside and out. Plus, she's totally chill and so fun to chat with.

I'd love to hear if you try out any of my fave local businesses, and if you have one of your own you'd like me to check out, let me know.
